NOTICE OF RACE

1. RULES

1.1 The Championship of BBYRA Champions will be governed by the rules as defined in The current Racing Rules of Sailing, the Championship of BBYRA Champions Conditions, any Deed of Gift, and the class rules of the Sandpiper Class of Barnegat Bay except as modified by the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.

1.2 RRS 60.1 (a) is modified to prohibit a boat from protesting another boat for an alleged breach of a class rule requiring class membership.

2. CLASS RULES

2.1 The Protest Committee will determine applicable class rules no later than 0800 hours on June 8, 2008.

3. ALTERATION OF THE RACING RULES

3.1 Rules 61.1(a), Protest Requirements and Appendix A2 Scoring Systems are modified for this series.

4. ALTERATION OF CLASS RULES

4.1 Class Rule V.B. is modified to provide that this regatta will be sailed with skipper and one crew. Crew shall be designated at check-in. Change of crew during the regatta will not be permitted.

5. CLASS

5.1 Marshall 15’ Sandpiper.

6. ADVERTISING

6.1 The Championship of BBYRA Champions is classified as Category A in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.

7. ELIGIBILITY

7.1 Eligible competitors shall be the 2007 class Champions of BBYRA’s Championship Series, be members of the BBYRA at the time of the event, and shall have submitted the completed Official Entry Form and paid in full all event fees before becoming official competitors.

8. FEES, REGISTRATION, and CHECK IN (See Conditions 2.4, 10.1 & 10.3)

8.1 Entry Fee $50.00 per entrant, includes continental breakfast, BBYRA style lunch, and after race social event for both skipper and crew.

8.2 Non-Competitor Social Event Fee $10.00 Per person.

8.3 Registrations must be submitted on the Official Entry Form available on BBYRA’s web site no later than May 15, 2008. Completed entry forms, together with all fees, must be submitted no later than May 15,2008 to Metedeconk River Yacht Club, P.O. Box 281, Brick, NJ 08723.

8.4 All Competitors shall check in at the registration desk no later than 0830 hours on June 8, 2008.

9. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

9.1

June 8, 2008 0800 hours Arrival, check-in, and competitors meeting

June 8, 2008 0930 hours Warning Signal, Race # 1, Races # 2 through # 5 to follow; Lunch break ashore as appropriate

June 8, 2008 Awards Ceremony and Social Following Conclusion of Racing

9.2 Conditions 6.1, 6.2, and 6.4 shall apply.

10.BOAT ROTATION

10.1 At the competitors meeting, each competitor will draw a boat for the first race and sail the same boat for all races sailed prior to the lunch break or as directed by the RaceCommittee. At the lunch break or as directed by the Race Committee, each competitor will draw a second time for the remaining races. A competitor that draws his own boat or a boat he has already sailed will draw again.

11.SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

11.1 Will be provided at Registration and check in. Advance copies of the Sailing Instructions will be available through BBYRA’s web site no later than May 15, 2008. Amendments, if any, to the Sailing Instructions will be posted on the Metedeconk River Yacht Club regatta notice board no later than 0800 hours on June 8, 2008. It is the responsibility of each competitor to check the regatta notice board for any amendments to this Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions, or any other event notices.

12.COURSES

12.1 Will be those diagramed in the Championship of BBYRA Champions Sailing Instructions.

13.SCORING

13.1 The Low-Point Scoring System, Appendix A2 of the RRS, as modified in the Conditions for this Championship, will apply.

14.RACING AREA

14.1 The racing area will be the Metedeconk River.

15.LIFEJACKETS

15.1 All competitors shall wear, while on the water, a U.S. Coast Guard approved PFD, except for brief periods (two 2 minutes or less) while changing clothing. The PFD must be worn in conformance with Condition 12.1.

16.COMPETITOR CONDUCT and COACHING

16.1 See Condition 13.1, 13.2, & 13.3.

17.PRIZES

17.1 See Conditions 9.1.

18.LIABILITY AND DAMAGE

18.1 See Conditions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4.
